Sailing to Tabacco Caye

Round 1
While in Placencia, we decided to sail out to Tabacco Caye instead of busing up to Dangriga and then taking the ferry over.  It would cost slightly more, but would mean we could sail and snorkel up to the Caye.

It was a beautiful morning.  We loaded up our gear and pushed off.  Within an hour and a half we could see the Cayes off in the distance where we would be snorkeling.

Then disaster struck.  The fiberglass panel on the front on the boat peeled away as the catamaran hit some swells.

So we headed back to Placencia having decided to give it another go the next day...

The upside to the whole thing was a little bit of sailing, seeing some dolphins, and hearing stories about how locals have found drugs offshore from package drops heading to Mexico.

Round 2
The next day we started out in a speed boat which made for a quick, but bumpy trip.

Along the way, we were able to do some snorkeling.

After a few hours, we found ourselves on Tobacco Caye... safe and sound.
