Crossing into Belize

We last left our intrepid travelers stranded in Honduras.  The last ferry for the week had left a few hours before their arrival to Puerto Cortes.  It had turned out there would be no ferry the next day so some quick planning was needed.

It turns out the bus ride out to the border isn't that bad.  There's a 6am direct bus that leaves from the terminal and gets you to the Guatemalan border at Corintu.

From Corintu, you can take a taxi or shuttle to Puerto Barrios.  There's a few different outfits.  The one we took left at 10:30am.  Before taking the boat, you have to stop at immigration and pay an exit fee and get your passport stamped.

The ferry from Puerto Barrios, Guatemala drops you off at Punta Gorda, Belize.

  1. I'm enjoying catching up on your adventures Austin. My regards to all the bro's. While in Belice, don't miss a memorable chino snack (yeah, it seems they have chinos there). A little packaged cookie they call something like "Ginger Biscuit". It might even have a figure of the queen on the package, I don't remember, but uncommonly delicious--perfect bus ride sustenance.
