Granada, Nicaragua

From Isla de Ometepe, we took a short ferry (Moyogalpa-San Jorge) and taxi to Rivas.  From Rivas we hopped on a bus to Grenada.

Granada is a beautiful colonial city full of grand architecture and street vendors.  It's a city that knows it's special.  It's fairly clean, many speak English, and everything is just a little overpriced.  It's still a great place for an afternoon stroll or to sit out and people watch over a beer.

Where We Stayed:  Hostal Oasis.  It's not the cheapest hostel, but it's safe and clean.  There's a great inner courtyard and it's a good place to meet fellow travelers.

Where We Ate:  There's plenty of street food to aprevechar.  If you need a break from Latin America, try The Garden Cafe.  The food takes you back to the US and there's free Wi-Fi.

What We Did:  Checked out the whole city from the Merced Church lookout, grabbed a drink on Calle Calzada, and day tripped it to the markets in Masaya.
